For the Love of Mom was inspired by the loss of author Tina Slinker’s mother and father. It is a book that chronicles the passage through the pain and sorrow that comes with the loss of a loved one to a place of renewed joy. The book will take the reader on the healing journey through the many emotions involved in dealing with such profound loss.

More than a book about loss, it is a celebration of the many blessings bestowed on our lives. Its resounding theme is one of encouragement to the readers to identify their emotions and find healthy ways to first manage the pain and then find sustaining grace in God’s comfort.

Tina Slinker is currently the athletic director at the Hockaday School in Dallas. Previously, she was the head women’s basketball coach at the University of North Texas in Denton for nineteen years. She has been coaching for twenty-eight years and takes great pride in making a difference in young people’s lives. Her book seeks to accomplish the same task. It maintains a hope of sharing the pain and sorrow involved in loss and strives to help readers find an avenue that makes their journeys through grief less difficult.
